The County Commissioners serve as the executive branch of county government.  They approve all contracts for the county.  They are responsible to see that all county owned properties are properly maintained and insured.  They oversee all personnel issues for county employees except wages which are established by the county council. The commissioners serve on the drainage board and solid waste board. The commissioners are also active in promoting economic growth by working closely with the Blackford County Economic Development Corporation.

 

The commissioners typically meet on the first and third Monday of each month, except when the courthouse is closed to oberve a holiday.  The commissioners then meet on Tuesday following the holiday.  Their meetings are at 8:30 a.m. on the first floor of the county courthouse located at 110 W.
